Goal 1
Melton
The Falcons' varsity team first traveled to Dalton McMichael High School to take on the Phoenix out of the 3A Mid-State soccer conference. After a sluggish start, Ryan Miller got things going for the Falcons by picking the pocket of the central defender from McMichael. Ryan took the ball off of his foot and calmly placed it inside the far post to give the Falcons the 1-0 lead.
Moments later, Edgar De La Sancha narrowly missed putting the Falcons up by two as he rattled the post with a shot from the edge of the box. The keeper didn't get a chance to raise his arms as the ball clanked off the outside of the post.
Just before half, Schuyler Eldridge drove the ball to the end line and slotted a pass to Edgar De La Sancha who pushed it into the back of the net. Now up 2-0, the Falcons were in complete control of the match. At the half, shot totals were 13-1 in favor of the Falcons.
In the second half, the Falcons came out firing on all cylinders but with nothing to show for it. Ryan Miller and Edgar De La Sancha both hit the post and crossbar in the first few minutes. Their luck changed around the 47' minute mark as Ryan Miller received a lofted ball from Francisco Pascual just inside the box. The on-rushing keeper found himself in a bad spot as Ryan popped the ball over his head and into the top of the goal.
On the next drive down the field it was Edgar's turn to own up to his debt to Schuyler. This time Edgar was able to pick out Schuyler in the middle for the service. Schuyler controlled the ball with his first touch and slammed the ball past the keeper with his second.
With 30 minutes remaining in the match and a four goal lead, the Falcons took the opportunity to rest its midfield and forwards for the next match. The reserves for this game continued to keep the pressure on during the remaining time and keep the clean sheet for Enrique Rosales who earned the starting spot for the night's fixture.
The junior varsity took some time to get going as well, but figured things out by halftime to pull away from the Phoenix. Chase Melton had a strong game for the Falcons in the midfield to keep the Falcons winning streak going at five straight.

North Iredell Raiders
It was a quick turnaround for the Falcons as the team traveled to North Iredell on Thursday night to take on the Raiders out of the 3A/4A Northern Piedmont conference. The Falcons and Raiders had not met in a counting match since the mid 90s.
Tired legs were not a factor in this one as the Falcons jumped on the Raiders early. Joshua Sisk and Ryan Miller devised their own option play to put the Falcons on the board. Joshua took a pass from Francisco Pascual and beat his guy to get into the box. Ryan then made a run around Joshua to takeover control of the ball and slam it into the bottom corner of the net.
Just minutes later, Joshua was taken down 30 yards from goal. Ryan Miller lined up the free kick and placed it underneath the keeper for the 2-0 advantage. Ryan was able to complete the hat-trick about midway through the first half as he scored from the spot to give the Falcons a 3-0 lead.
Ricardo Osorio got himself into the scoring column in the second half with a header into the side net and a blast just under the crossbar to complete the scoring and give the Falcons a 5-0 victory. Weston Edwards and Josh Clark got some much needed rest, and Enrique Rosales picked up another shutout. With this win, the Falcons are 5-1-1 on the season.
The junior varsity new additions, Alex Pena and Alex Maya got into action against North Iredell. Alex Maya picked up an early goal and an assist to get the Falcons rolling in the right direction. Alex Pena contributed to the attack early, but left after colliding with a Raider. Peyton Eldridge, Blake Shore, Worth Martin and Bryson St. John held the Raider attack in check to help Zach Hutchens earn the clean sheet.
The junior varsity Falcons ended up with a 4-0 victory over the Raiders to extend the winning streak to six games. Coach Jeff Weisner really has the team working together well. Keep up the good work guys!
